Ways to use Gestures

BODY LANGUAGE

HAND GESTURES

Use digital camera to make a self-portrait using body language that communicates self respect. Translate the image into a drawing using technologies at your disposal... simplify the image to communicate an isolated figure.      

1b CS lesson         Gestures ;  Exaggeration

Use color to exaggerate a gesture and area of focus. Adding color to a gesture in a pencil drawing would do nicely.     or

Write a story about an exaggeration. Describe gestures and body language that uses language in an exaggerated way.

Ways to transform:

Shape, Color, Symbols, Repetition

Gesture, Size/scale, camouflage,

morphs and animorphs,

Use Pencils or crapas to make drawings that use transformation to effect the meaning of relationships. Transform a gesture. Transform a body part that relates to a gesture.

Make drawings or write stories that that use body language to communicate actions activities and stories. Create movement by repetition and multiple points of view. ( consider overlap and transparency)

Draw with pencils or oil pastels a recreation of   Andrew Wythes "Christina's World". Change people , place or things to create a new relationship.

Write a short story about your drawing.   Write about the thinking process of why you changed the relationship in the way that you did. What kind of choices did you think about? Why?

Review the elements of your portfolio.  Use the characters , places and things within your portfolio to tell a story that has a conflict and resolution in it. Organize the elements of your story into a story board of 4-5 frames.
