This website is an online resource for information on current issues in media policy. The website also serves as a multimedia archive for Democracy at Stake?: Current issues in Electronic Media Policy and the Future of the Public Sphere, a three-part series of funder briefings that were designed, funded and hosted in winter 2005 by the Ford Foundation with co-sponsorship from Grantmakers in Film & Electronic Media (GFEM) and a diverse array of funder affinity groups.

The Democracy at Stake series brought together media reform and justice groups, activists, researchers, and leading thinkers around three pivotal media policy issues: the public domain and intellectual property were explored in a session called,  "Securing Our Rights to Public Knowledge, Creativity and Freedom of Expression";  grassroots activism was the subject of "The Role of Grassroots Organizers in Challenging Media Consolidation in the U.S."; and in the third session, "The Public Airwaves as a Common Asset and a Public Good: Implications for the Future of Broadcasting and Community Development in the U.S. Public Airwaves," looked at spectrum as an essential public resource. The series generated new resource materials to advance field learning around media policy in the public interest, including summary reports and video documentation.

Special funding was provided by the Ford Foundation, Albert A List Foundation and Quixote Foundation; and general support Grantmakers in Film and Electronic Media
