Inquiry:
How can visual transformation be used to reveal a process of growth and change?

Objective
Explore TRANSFORMATION as a subject of change, evolution or growth. Using the visual elements of shape, line, volume, color and texture a variety of transformation processes can be explored.

Process:
Consider TRANSFORMATION as a process of LIFE as seen in nature, stages of life, imagination, science, belief systems…

Examples: young to old, chrysalis to butterfly, sunrise to sunset, transformer toys, extreme make-over,

 Artworks:

Marc Chagall, “I and the Village”
Henri Matisse, “Backs”
Edward Muybridge, “Running Horse”

Activity:

In Class: Part 1

Make a simple TRANSFORMATION with at least 4 stages.

Your transformation can be a real life transformation or a fantasy transformation.

The final step is to take digital photographs of each transformation so we can view them on the video projector.

At Home: Part 2

Finish your transformations at home.

Reflection:

How do multiple intelligences relate to the transformations?
