TRANSFORMATION

AIM: Understand transformation as a process for change and growth over time that promotes individual and community identity. Consider TRANSFORMATION as a process of LIFE as seen in nature, stages of life, imagination, science, belief systemsÉ  Examples: young to old, chrysalis to butterfly, sunrise to sunset, transformer toys, extreme make-over.

OBJECTIVE: Draw 4 stages of a natural development. Create 4 sounds. Make a dance that shows the process

SKILL ACTIVITY: Choose one artform and complete ONE skill activity.

Visual Arts-
!. Draw two simple shapes on opposite sides of a sheet of paper, such as a circle and a square.
2. Imagine that the circle is going to magically transform into a square. 3. Draw two to three shapes that show the transitional shapes

Dance - Make a dance that shows the process of a growing flower.

Art Activity for the Early Childhood cassroom

1 .Transform a small clapping gesture into a large clapping gesture.
2. Hold hands in big circle... while holding hands, transform the circle into a square. Triangle, etc.
3. make a painting of the group activity from step one and two.

CREATIVE ACTIVITY: Complete one creative activity.

VISUAL ARTS
Create a transformation with at least 4 stages. Your transformation can be a real life transformation or a fantasy transformation.
OBJECTIVE:
create a drawing, painting or water color that shows 4 stages of a natural or imaginary process.
- Represent as many details as possible within each stage of the transformation.
- Pay attention to the things that transform along with your main theme. (a transformation of a plant over time my also show the transformation of clouds, moving sun, birds, etc.)

Try to explore a theme or idea that would be interesting to both children and adults. Blend imagination and logic.
- You are welcome to do this assignment digitally with a camera or software. Take digital photographs of each transformation so we can view them on the video projector.

MUSIC: Create 4 sounds compositions that show a transformation.
OBJECTIVE Create 4 vocalizations that reveal a transformation. Load sounds in Powerpoint and present with 4 photo images.
